The Spatial Vectorcardiogram Obtained by Use of a Trihedron and Its Scalar tomparisons

a rather large distance. With this in mind, the authors propose a vectorcardiographic method based on a trirectangular trihedron. Comparisons are made between calculated scalar leads derived from the spatial vectorcardiogram, and real scalar leads recorded from the subject. In case of concordance the hypothesis of a single instantaneous cardiac vector within an homogeneous conducting medium is verified. This was found to hold for most circumstances. However, for those instances in which discrepancies arose another hypothesis is advanced.

متن کاملThe spatial vectorcardiogram obtained by use of a trihedron and its scalar comparisons.
The spatial vectorcardiogram is supposed to represent the path of the cardiac vector viewed from a rather large distance. With this in mind, the authors propose a vectorcardiographic method based on a trirectangular trihedron. Comparisons are made between calculated scalar leads derived from the spatial vectorcardiogram, and real scalar leads recorded from the subject. In case of concordance th...
متن کاملThe J loop of the spatial vectorcardiogram in accidental hypothermia in man.
TheJ' loop of the spatial vectorcardiogram has been studied, using the Frank system of lead placement, in 25 patients with accidental hypothermia. There was a highly significant correlation (P<0o0025) between the duration of the loop (range 40-i60 msec) and the severity of the hypothermia, but its rate of inscription may (a) be uniform throughout, (b) slow progressively throughout, or (c) slow ...
متن کاملThe spatial vectorcardiogram in diagnosis.
THE spatial vectorcardiogram is an approximate model of the moment-to-moment changes in direction and magnitude of the unbalanced electrical activity of the heart in three dimensions. In practice it is recorded from the surface of the human thorax through specially placed electrodes, so the information it records is essentially similar to that recorded by scalar (surface) electrocardiography. A...
متن کاملThe Significance of a Wide Tse Loop.
IN recent years there has been increasing interest in the clinical application of spatial vectorcardiography. Some comparative studies have indicated that the vectorcardiogram may be significantly superior to the conventional scalar electrocardiogram in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction and ventricular hypertrophy." 2 The Frank lead system3 has many theoretical advantages over the older ve...
